PIH Health Celebrates Topping Out of New Medical Office Building in Whittier
Organization Marks Major Construction Milestone in the Expansion of Outpatient Services for the Community



Whittier, Calif. (June 11, 2026) – PIH Health celebrated the topping out of its new medical office building on the PIH Health Whittier Hospital campus during a ceremony held today, Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Located at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Putnam Street, the milestone marks the placement of the final structural beam and significant progress in construction of the state-of-the-art facility, which is scheduled to open in 2027.
The new medical office building represents a major investment in enhancing patient care, increasing capacity, and bringing additional services closer to home. The facility will feature an urgent care center, imaging services, outpatient surgery center, eye clinic, primary care, and a wide range of specialty physician offices.
 
The topping out ceremony included remarks from PIH Health leadership and representatives from Boldt, the developer and construction partner for the project. Community leaders, elected officials, and members of the PIH Health Board of Directors and administration were also in attendance.
 
“Today’s topping out ceremony represents more than construction progress—it reflects our continued commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of our growing community,” said PIH Health Physicians President Andrew Zwers. “We are grateful for our partnership with the City of Whittier, Boldt, and all those helping bring this vision to life. This new facility will expand access to high-quality primary and specialty care, ensuring patients can receive the services they need close to home.”
Construction of the new medical office building continues on schedule, with completion anticipated in 2027. Once opened, the facility will further strengthen PIH Health’s ability to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for Whittier and surrounding communities.
