Zuanic expands leadership role while continuing to serve as Chief Nursing Officer
Whittier, Calif. (March 4, 2026) – PIH Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Irena Zuanic DHA MSN RN as chief operating officer (COO) of PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital in addition to her current role as chief nursing officer (CNO). In her role as COO and CNO, Zuanic oversees all inpatient nursing units, emergency services, perioperative and perinatal services, inpatient dialysis, physical and occupational therapy, and hospital operations. She also provides executive oversight for key ancillary departments including cardiology, catheterization lab, radiology and interventional radiology, respiratory services, neurology operations, and physical medicine.

West. “She brings a level of passion and commitment that will be invaluable as she takes on oversight of ancillary services.”
Zuanic joined PIH Health in May 2019 as CNO of Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. In December 2019, that hospital was acquired by PIH Health and Zuanic transitioned to the role of CNO of PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital. Her expertise spans the full scope of nursing practice, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and a proven commitment to education and professionalism in nursing. Prior to joining PIH Health and Good Samaritan Hospital, Zuanic held roles at organizations including St. Francis Medical Center, Providence Saint John’s Health Center, and Centinela Hospital. Zuanic holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Dundee, Scotland; a Masters of Science in nursing and nursing administration from the University of Phoenix; a Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center; and a Doctorate Degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix.
