Care and Services for our Members and Communities

Care and Services for our Members and Communities:

  • As of January 13, 2025, all our facilities are open and operating on normal schedules. Our virtual care options, including phone and video, are also available 24/7. You can find the most up-to-date information on our care and support site, including:
    • Kaiser Permanente facility information
    • How to get new prescriptions and refill existing ones
    • Caring for your mental health
    • 24/7 care options
    • How to replace lost or damaged medical equipment
  • Across Southern California, we are partnering with disaster assistance centers to extend mental health resources to our members and those in the community affected by the fires.  We are fortunate to have a robust network of clinicians available in Southern California including our very large external network of mental health providers and many more who have volunteered from other Kaiser Permanente locations.  Any member needing help with mental health can call 1-833-KP-WITH-U (1-833-579-4848) or access care through our member portal at kp.org or our Kaiser Permanente app.
  • We are reaching out to impacted members to share these important resources with them.

Kaiser Permanente is supporting fire relief efforts in the communities with the greatest need:

  • We are a key health care provider at the American Red Cross evacuation center at the Pasadena Convention Center. The Kaiser Permanente medical pop-up provides direct services by our physicians, nurses, mental health staff, pharmacy team, and non-medical personnel. This includes prescription coordination as well as over the counter medications.
  • We have deployed a mobile health vehicle to support clinical needs at the Westwood evacuation center in West Los Angeles and are providing over-the-counter medications free of charge. A second mobile unit is on its way from our Northern California market to help us expand our outreach.
  • Our Kaiser Permanente Walnut Center administrative facility in Pasadena has been turned into a place of respite for first responders and others who are staffing the evacuation centers.

Charitable contributions

Based on our understanding of immediate needs, we have made an initial financial investment to help meet the needs of our organizations on the frontlines of the wildfire response. We have provided $100,000 to each of the following organizations:

  • American Red Cross
  • Los Angeles Region California Fire Foundation
  • California Community Foundation

Caring for our employees:

Many of our employees and physicians have been impacted by the fires. For those who have been displaced, we are providing support and resources including reimbursement for temporary accommodations, short-term emergency grants, loans, and paid time off cash-outs. In addition, our physicians and employees have access to our extensive network of mental health counselors as part of our employee assistance program.

Lastly, as we begin to recover from this historic natural disaster, we want you to know we are planning for the next phase. We are working with our extensive network of community partners in the affected areas to assess their short-term, intermediate and long-term needs. As those needs are assessed, we will determine a community support strategy for those affected communities.

If you have questions, concerns, or needs for your constituents, please contact me directly or visit our care and support site for up-to-date information.

Sincerely,

Ryan M. Ferguson
