Rose Hills Honors Our Veterans

The associates at Rose Hills were fortunate to play a role in a love story.  Two young men went to war during the Vietnam conflict and only one returned alive.  Ruben Valencia lost his childhood friend when Raul Guerra’s plane went down on a hilltop in Vietnam.  The year, 1967.  Ruben’s love for his friend would not allow Ruben to rest until Raul returned to his hometown.
On April 25, 2019, after over five decades Raul is home.  A friend of the family had donated their gravesite to Raul. Rose Hills team working with Risher Mortuary provided full military honors to Ruben’s beloved friend.
Thank you to everyone who worked so passionately to assure the arrival was perfect and the family’s wish of placing flags on nearby veteran’s graves was honored.
Thank you to Ruben and his family for not giving up on this friend. We at Rose Hills are honored to be a part of this historic moment and have welcomed Ruben to share his story at our 99th annual Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 27.
Welcome home Petty officer Third Class Raul Guerra, Welcome Home.
