SUMMARY:'A Night of Hope for Baby James Q.' Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:James is a 6-month-old twin (His twin brother Hendrix is healthy) at UCLA Children's Hospital and is in dire need of a matching living liver donor because of a rare birth defect called Biliary Atresia. About 1 in every 15\,000 babies are born with this defect which can be treated with surgery to remove the blockage. However\, in James' case\, the disorder was not discovered during his premature care and thus resulted in non-repairable liver damage. Such cases are rare but it is still one of the most common reasons for liver transplants in infants. Just two children at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital had this disorder until two days ago when the other child\, a baby girl\, died just after her sixth month birthday.\n\n \n\nTheir large fundraising event is being held Oct 6th at the Whittier DoubleTree Hotel from 6 PM to 11 PM in support of baby James. We will have comedy acts and four bands performing including Stellaration\, Relativity\, Gilbert Stokes\, and JLB who is up for Latin Grammy.\n\n\n\nThe national Non Profit organization COTA or Children's Organ Transplant Association is the sponsor for all of James's fundraising.\n\nDonations are fully tax-deductible through COTA.
